The first part of this Battle with Evil forces series started with Know Yourself, followed by Know Your Enemy and now the conclusion; the Weapons of Your Warfare. Now you should be battle ready to face the enemy and emerge victorious. The bible admonishes the Christian not to be faint-hearted in the face of the battle of life. According to 3 Tim.1:7, For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. The first three weapons given to you by God are (1) Power- an overcoming ability (2) Love –the heart of tolerance and mercy (3) Sound Mind – a focused mental and spiritual alertness. This is the strength of the warrior in spiritual battles. Satan hates them all, preferring to instill fear, torment and sin in your life.
The day you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, two things happened; you were automatically conscripted into the army of Christ-you’re therefore a soldier! You were armed for battle with the following; helmet of salvation, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, your loins girt with truth, your feet shod with the gospel, and the sword of the Spirit –the word of God. The four spiritual enemies you constantly battle with are; principalities, powers, rulers of this present darkness, and spiritual wickedness in high places. You are therefore not to entangle yourself with civilian pursuits, but to please Him who recruited you.
In Jeremiah 51:20, the Lord called you a battle Axe and weapons of war. How are you an axe and weapons of war? The psalmist explains God’s declaration by thanking Him for training his hands to war and his fingers to fight. Some of the other weapons you have are (4) Hands and (5) Fingers. You know that your enemy is no a physical being, but a spiritual one – requiring invisible weapons. Paul said this weapons cannot be used carnally, but mighty through God to divinely pulling down of strongholds. Use your hands and fingers during prayer sessions, rather than standing like a tree without motion. Bodily gestures have spiritual connotations which many people don’t understand.
The role your mouth plays in the scheme of spiritual battle is crucial, because the words you speak are destructive missiles. It’s words of war! Each time you pray, use the words of war to clear your environment, family and the place of prayers; before embarking on healing, break through and blessing request. What about those who cannot speak? God has given them the ability to speak the words in the spirit. Learn to speak some of these words of war in the spirit (not tongues) to your body at every slightest opportunity. Pray without ceasing and develop a habit of praying between 2-4am at least thrice a week.
Some physical weapons popularly used by most Christians are olive oil, water, handkerchief and stones and sand. These items carry fire anointing from their sources, sometimes, the enemy can weaken their effectiveness. Use them with caution and depend more on scriptural prayers. Whenever you win a battle against evil forces, don’t relax for too long. Satan and his agents will always go back to re-organize themselves for another day. The only thing that gives them access to you again is sin. So learn to maintain every battle with evil forces through right living and love. Remember, Jesus Christ said in Mark 16:17-18, these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Your being a Christian does not shield you from being attacked, but the Lord continues to deliver you each time. So that you can equip yourself through the words of war to destroy the source of attack. Learn to release your weapons to the root cause of your problems and watch your enemies crumble. May God Almighty give you the grace to subdue your enemies through the strength of the Holy Ghost in you.
