What Is God’s definition of Marriage?
God defined marriage from the beginning as a union between a man and a woman. After allowing Adam, who was his replica in physical form to name all the animals he created in the Garden of Eden; which comprised of male and female species. God saw that Adam equally needed a help meat to join him tend the garden and converse with when not working. So out of the rib of Adam, God made woman. Adam woke up from the surgery table of the Almighty to behold a beautiful replica of him with refined features and breath-taking curves which was irresistible. He called her Eve! A name which was an expression of love, appreciation, friendship and companionship. Though naked and without clothing, Adam and Eve did not see their nakedness because of the love feature of their creation. Their eyes were only opened to their nakedness after the invasion of the devil in their peaceful home –through the temptation to sin against God. Scriptural References Gen. 2: 7, 21-25; Gen. 3: 20-21; Gen 4: 1-2.
The Marriage Bed
The marriage bed is one of the most sacred institutions and should be respected by all who signs to it. As Christians we are suppose to protect it and revere it. Most of the troubles in marriages today are linked to the marriage bed; either it is defiled or it has become cold and uninteresting. For the marriage to be successful, the marriage bed must be warm and inviting. Everything that does not have a place in the marriage bed should be left outside. Many people don’t know when to switch-off the world outside and concentrate on that woman or man that has become a help meat. (Heb 13:4 Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge. )
Procreation And Sexual Pleasure
God ordained marriage for the human population to multiply by procreation (Sexual relationship between man and woman). Psalm 127;3-5, “Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth. Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate. ) Some marriages including those of Christians suffer because of bareness resulting from a number of factors which can be traced to the following:
- Due to Sickness or Disease
- Past worldly lives
- Demonic affliction ( Foundational)
Sexual Pleasure: God ordained marriage to stop sexual waywardness by his creation. He wants you to enjoy sex as a pleasurable experience rather than a curse. It is these that made a lot of us sign into the institution of marriage. The Holy Bible stated that we must not defile our self through sexual pollution, for our body is the temple of the Holy Ghost.
The foundation of A Successful Marriage
A marriage that will be successful has to have the following ingredients in a mixture that will be pleasing to the contracting parties;
The summary of these items is what we generally refer to as love. Most times marriages are contracted on the basis of lust and not love. That is the reason you see a marriage of one month falling apart after an expensive wedding ceremony. But one founded on love can last a life time, when you truly know the ingredients that make up that word. Eph.5: 22-23 Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. Col.3:18-19 Wives, be subject to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.
The Product of Marriage
The product of marriage is the children that form the family. When children arrive in a marriage they change the equation as they affect everything that make up the marriage. The pressure they exert on both parents cannot be over-emphasised. Without proper planning the financial, material and love needs of the family can be adversely affected. The economic hardship in the country is impacting negatively on marriages thus, causing husbands or wives to abandon their homes to seek solace outside the matrimonial bases.
